I was seen by Dr. Nolan for my very first pregnancy that ended in a missed miscarriage and had ongoing symptoms including continued bleeding, passage of large clots/tissue, dizziness, and increased heart rate. Despite these symptoms, I had significant difficulty getting timely follow-up or clear guidance from the office. Multiple calls and messages went unanswered, and I have had to repeatedly advocate for basic follow-up such as lab work and further evaluation. To this day I am still having problems with no concern or guidance from this team.
During this process, I ultimately have had to make an emergency room visit because I was unable to get a response from the office regarding my symptoms. I was also told that additional evaluation (including imaging) was not necessary based solely on lab trends, despite ongoing symptoms that would typically warrant further assessment. This was concerning and did not align with what I would expect for safe and thorough care.
I attempted to seek care with another OB/GYN for a second opinion, but was told my situation was too complex to take on mid-process, which left me without options for appropriate outpatient care. As a result, I am now in a position where I will likely have to return to the emergency room for further evaluation, which could have been avoided with more timely follow-up and guidance.
My interactions with the medical assistant, Sarah, were at times dismissive and came across as passive-aggressive when I expressed concerns. This made an already stressful and emotional situation even more difficult to navigate. Patients in situations like this rely heavily on timely communication, clear guidance, and feeling heard. Unfortunately that was not my experience.
I hope the office reviews its communication and follow-up processes to ensure patients with urgent or sensitive conditions receive the level of care and responsiveness they deserve.
